Spiceland CARES is a not-for-profit organization of volunteers who work to help in their community.
Spiceland CARES Day is a day where volunteers in the community of Spiceland, Indiana come together on the first Saturday in May. We work to help our neighbors or shut-ins and clean up or spruce up our town. We meet at 8:30 am at the Town Office, 130 E. Main Street. We get our project directions and t-shirts, have coffee and donuts, then begin working at 9 am. We come back to the Town Office at noon for pictures, pizza and to share stories. Oh yes and the dirtiest shirt contest! Can't forget that! The kids love this part.
Over the years we have painted wheel chair ramps, cleaned up the cemetery, cleaned sidewalks, raked leaves, planted flowers, weeded flower beds, spread mulch, shoveled gravel, washed windows, painted curbs and the park equipment.
We also hold a Christmas event Pictures with Santa every December for our town children. Then we deliver Easter and Valentine goodies to our elderly in the community. We love our town and it is such a great neighborhood for the young and old alike.
